Okay, so your congress authorizes $700 billion dollars to revitalize the banking industry and encourage the banks to start lending again. The first $350 billion is handed out quickly enough to a diverse spectrum of troubled and not so troubled banks and financial institutions. So the bad news is that banks aren't lending on good, clean, no-nonsense commercial loans. They just aren't—not now anyway. The good news is that private investors are in fact still lending, and see opportunity in those areas where the banks fear to tread. Further good news is that most commercial borrowers have accepted that loans are going to be difficult to find and be more costly, so the elasticity of demand is quite low at the moment, and higher price points are not seemingly scaring off the borrowers.
