Commercial Financing Resources
Poking around on the net I think I've got a pretty thorough picture of the online sources for information concerning the commercial mortgage industry; so I thought I'd give a list of the major sources with brief descriptions of what they're about.
Commercial Mortgage News, Information and Reports
- New York Times Commercial Real Estate Section - Good source for national and regional news related to commercial real estate in general.
- Commercial Property News - You can subscribe to CPN, and apparently there are some features/stories that are only available to subscribers. However, it seems that the majority of the headlines link through to free articles.
- National Mortgage News Commercial Mortgages Section - A page of nice, short summary articles.
- Federal Reserve - The reserve board publishes a variety of reports related to the commercial mortgage industry.
- Mortgage Bankers Association - Here you can select a "commercial" market focus to see the info posted concerning that market. There are a variety of news releases related to the MBA and the reports they produce, along with the actual results of their research and studies.
- Scotsman Guide - Some news, but more focused on providing general information about the commercial mortgage origination process.
- Mortgage Daily Commercial Mortgage News - Viewable with subscription only.
Blogs
I don't think many people in this industry have time to sit down every few days and muse on their work life. With the consequence that there just aren't many good blogs related to the commercial mortgage industry out there. If you search on Techorati or Google Blog Search for something like "commercial mortgage" (Google results, Technorati results), most of what you see are automated feeds of news sources such as the above, ad sites for "how to make a million dollars as a commercial loan broker", and a bunch of automated gibberish sites. Mostly, it's a wasteland.
A notable exception to this is the blog over at C-Loans. Here you get a pretty vast amount of valuable information about many different aspects of the commercial mortgage industy.
