Basis Points

Glossary of Terms Related to Commercial Mortgages and Loans

An alternative method of referring to percentage points. Often used in describing margins on commercial mortgages. 100 basis points = 1%. So for instance, an ARM may have an interest rate described as "Prime (an index) plus 225 basis points" (i.e. 2.25%)
